Ironman of the Day: Kristin Hannon

  • Follow Other sports

NAME: Kristin Hannon

AGE: 47

FROM: Harlem

OCCUPATION: Deputy clerk of Columbia County Clerk of Superior Court’s office, Criminal Division

EXPERIENCE: Participated in her first triathlon in summer 2011. Though she’s competed in several small and sprint triathlons, the ESi Ironman 70.3 Augusta will be her longest. Hannon has been training hard for nearly a year. She enjoys the biking and expects the 13.1-mile run to be the most difficult part.

“I know it’s going to be challenging. I know it’s not going to be pretty. But the high I get from being finished, it’s exciting.”

GAME PLAN: Hannon plans to not rush through the transitions and conserve energy for the run.

“I want to finish in eight hours, which is funny because the professionals finish in half that. … I’m competing against myself. The challenge, get over the line.”
