COLUMBIA, Mo. — Rodney McGruder scored 24 points and Kansas State upset No. 3 Missouri 78-68 Tuesday night, the Wildcats’ second win this season over the Tigers.

Kansas State (19-8, 8-7 Big 12) led 40-30 at halftime and by 16 points in the second half before a late run by Missouri (25-3, 12-3) got the Tigers within 63-60 before the Wildcats pulled away.

Michael Dixon scored 21 and Marcus Denmon added 19 for Missouri (25-3, 12-3).

NO. 1 KENTUCKY 73, MISSISSIPPI STATE 64

In Starkville, Miss., Michael Kidd-Gilchrist scored 18 points, Anthony Davis added 13 points and 11 rebounds and Kentucky rallied past Mississippi State.

The Wildcats (27-1, 13-0 Southeastern Conference) trailed 41-28 at halftime, but slowly climbed back to take their first lead at 63-62 with 4:11 remaining on a layup by Kidd-Gilchrist. They never trailed again, winning their 19th consecutive game.

Dee Bost led Mississippi State (19-9, 6-7) with 21 points.

NO. 7 NORTH CAROLINA 86, NORTH CAROLINA STATE 74

In Raleigh, N.C., Kendall Marshall had a career-high 22 points and 13 assists to help North Carolina beat North Carolina State.

North Carolina (24-4, 11-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) has won 12 consecutive meetings and hasn’t lost to the Wolfpack (18-10, 7-6) in five years.

NO. 8 OHIO STATE 83, ILLINOIS 67

In Columbus, Ohio, Deshaun Thomas scored 19 points and Ohio State (23-5, 11-4) regained its shooting touch, rolling over Illinois (16-12, 5-10) to remain in the thick of the Big Ten race.

SETON HALL 73, NO. 9 GEORGETOWN 55

In Newark, N.J., Jordan Theodore scored 29 points to lead Seton Hall to the signature win it needed for its NCAA tournament résumé.

The Pirates (19-9, 8-8 Big East) shot 61.0 percent (25 for 41). Georgetown (20-6, 10-5) came in allowing 38.4 percent shooting this season.

NO. 11 MICHIGAN 67, NORTHWESTERN 55 (OT)

In Evanston, Ill., Trey Burke, Zack Novak and Stu Douglass hit 3-pointers to start overtime and Michigan (21-7, 11-4 Big Ten) beat Northwestern (16-11, 6-9) for its fourth consecutive win.

NO. 12 FLORIDA 63, AUBURN 47

In Gainesville, Fla., Kenny Boynton was part of a hot shooting night for Florida, scoring 20 points as the Gators (22-6, 10-3 Southeastern Conference) overcome 18 turnovers and beat Auburn (14-13, 4-9).
