Jags are swept in 3-game series

In St. Augustine, Fla., Flagler completed a three-game sweep of Augusta State, winning the finale 6-3 on Sunday.

After Augusta State had tied it up at 3-3 in the top of the seventh inning, Flagler scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to pull away.

Seth Foster went 2 for 4 to lead the Jaguars (5-6, 0-3 Peach Belt Conference).

Kevin Dodson, Matt Smith and Ross Miles had the Jaguars’ other three hits.

• In Athens, Ga., Levi Hyams had three hits and two RBI as Georgia beat Presbyterian 11-0 to complete a three-game sweep.

Colby May added two hits and two RBI for the Bulldogs, who are off to a 3-0 start.

Stewart’s single secures sweep

In Aiken, USC Aiken rallied for a 7-6 victory to earn a doubleheader sweep of Queens College on Sunday.

USC Aiken trailed 6-1 in the nightcap.

Pinch hitter Hillary Stewart delivered the game-winning single in the seventh inning.

The Lady Pacers won the first game of the doubleheader 3-0 as India Kornegay pitched a two-hitter.

• Because of inclement weather in Decatur, Ala., the Augusta State’s final two games in the Charger Chillout were cancelled.

The Lady Jaguars were scheduled to play Indianapolis and Maryville on Sunday.

Augusta State (6-4) returns to action Friday when it takes on Charleston (W. Va.) in the Pioneer Classic in Greeneville, Tenn.

Pacers open up their spring year

USC Aiken’s 15th-ranked team opens its spring season today in the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate on Hilton Head Island, S.C.

The teams will play 36 holes today and 18 on Tuesday.

The field is made up of Francis Marion, Davidson, DePaul, Elon, Furman, Georgia State, Hartford, Louisville, Marshall, Ohio, Presbyterian, Radford, Richmond, Samford, Western Carolina and William & Mary.

USC Aiken finished its fall campaign with two second- place finishes.

Longtime Lions assistant retires

Detroit Lions assistant coach Don Clemons is retiring.

The team says Clemons is departing after 27 seasons with the Lions. He was a defensive assistant in 2011.

He’s worked for nine head coaches with the Lions and coached multiple positions on defense. He’s also served as the team’s strength coach.

• The former top executive of the Fiesta Bowl has reached a plea deal with Arizona prosecutors to settle allegations related to a political donations scandal.

Arizona Attorney General’s Office spokeswoman Amy Rezzonico confirmed Sunday that John Junker will appear in court on Tuesday, although she said she was barred from providing details before the hearing.

Headline on Lin results in firing

ESPN says it fired an employee responsible for an offensive headline about Knicks sensation Jeremy Lin.

The headline Friday on ESPN’s mobile Web site was used for a story about a New York loss in which Lin had nine turnovers.

The headline was an idiom that contains a word that also can be used as a slur against Chinese.
