The ex-Carolina Panthers and Chicago Bears defensive end signed a three-year deal with the Packers on Saturday morning, bringing one of the NFL’s best pass-rushers to a team that has historically avoided major free-agent splashes.
Patriots: The team announced on Saturday the signing of defensive back Brandon Browner, one day after the suspended former Seattle Seahawks player said on his Twitter account that he has agreed to a contract with the Patriots.
• Julian Edelman agreed to return to the team on Saturday after testing the open market.
Edelman, who enjoyed a breakthrough 2013 season as New England’s top receiver, took to Twitter to announce the deal.
COLTS: Hakeem Nicks took the best bet he could find in free agency.
He’s promising to cash in. Less than 24 hours after the former Giants receiver agreed to a one-year deal with Indianapolis, Nicks said he’s so confident in his own skills that it was an easy decision.
“I didn’t want to get myself in a long-term situation that I didn’t like. This is the best situation for me, a great organization and a chance to come in and show them what I can do and what I can bring to the table,” he said during a conference call Saturday. “I believe it’s going to pay off.”
JAGUARS: Wide receiver Justin Blackmon was involved in a single-car accident early Saturday morning, but police say alcohol was not a factor.
Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Dylan Bryan said Blackmon was not injured in the crash, which occurred just before 4 a.m. ET Saturday on Interstate 295.
BILLS: Running back Anthony Dixon is looking forward to carving a role for himself in Buffalo’s talented backfield and teaming up with Buffalo’s most significant free-agent addition, linebacker Brandon Spikes.
Both players agreed to terms on free-agent deals.
Spikes gives the Bills a physical, imposing presence in the middle of their defense.
