The league announced Friday that umpire Roy Ellison will not work an NFL game this weekend.
Williams said he was called vulgar names by Ellison during a drive in the second quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Williams said he has since heard from other players in the NFL that have had “the same experience” with Ellison.
CHIEFS: Wide receiver Kyle Williams has been placed on injured reserve with a torn knee ligament.
Williams tweeted about the injury Friday morning just after the team announced it signed receiver Chad Hall to the 53-man roster and placed Williams on IR.
DOLPHINS: Suspended offensive guard Richie Incognito met with NFL special investigator Ted Wells for a second consecutive day to discuss the team’s bullying scandal, multiple media outlets reported.
PANTHERS: Coach Ron Rivera said the team will be without defensive end Charles Johnson for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins.
Johnson, who has 8½ sacks this season and 21 sacks in his last 23 games, missed his third consecutive day of practice Friday with a sprained knee suffered in Carolina’s win against the New England Patriots Monday night.
GIANTS: A week’s worth of bold words from the team wrapped up with cornerback Terrell Thomas guaranteeing a victory over the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.
“No doubt we’re going to win this game,” Thomas said on Friday on Sirius XM NFL radio. “You can tell them, put it on a bulletin-board – it doesn’t matter, because we have to win this game. Our season is on the line right now.”
