Suh’s illegal low block in Detroit’s game Sunday against Minnesota will be reviewed for potential discipline, NFL spokesman Randall Liu confirmed Monday in an e-mail to The Associated Press.
Suh, a Lions defensive tackle, hit Vikings center John Sullivan during an interception return and the penalty against him negated a touchdown during Detroit’s 34-24 win. Suh said he wasn’t going after Sullivan’s knees, adding the two talked about it at halftime.
“I spoke to him, we’re good,” Suh said after Sunday’s game. “So that’s all that matters.”
PANTHERS: Starting right guard Garry Williams has torn the ACL and MCL in his left knee and will miss the remainder of the season.
COWBOYS: Quarterback Tony Romo should be able to keep playing through a rib injury sustained against the New York Giants after X-rays showed no structural damage.
Romo was out for Dallas’ final offensive play of the first half after getting crunched between two defenders.
GIANTS: Are denying an allegation from Dallas owner Jerry Jones that they faked injuries during a long touchdown drive by the Cowboys in New York’s loss.
Jones said after Dallas’ 36-31 victory Sunday night that “it was so obvious it was funny” when linebacker Dan Connor and defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins went out on consecutive plays in the second quarter, stopping the clock each time.
“It’s absolutely not true,” Giants coach Tom Coughlin said of the allegation. “Both of those payers were injured. Connor never returned to the game. Cullen was in a position where he needed to regroup. That really wasn’t orchestrated at all.”
JAGUARS: Ruled out quarterback Blaine Gabbert for Sunday’s game at Oakland after he sliced open the back of his throwing hand in the season opener.
Gabbert caught his right hand on a defender’s facemask while scrambling for a 4-yard gain the closing minutes against Kansas City on Sunday. He received 15 stitches to close the wound.
JETS: Rookie Geno Smith will get his second start when the team plays at New England on Thursday night.
Mark Sanchez is still sidelined with a shoulder injury
