Denver's Champ Bailey (right) dressed out for practice Tuesday but did not participate. He has been out with a strained foot and his status for the opener is uncertain.

Commings missed nearly all of training camp after breaking his left collarbone.

The fifth-round pick from Georgia was put on IR with a designation to return, meaning he could return to the active roster at any time during the season.

FALCONS: Signed offensive tackle Jeremy Trueblood, who started 84 games in seven seasons with Tampa Bay.

The Falcons waived offensive tackle Terren Jones and reached an injury settlement with offensive guard Phillipkeith Manley.

BRONCOS: Champ Bailey suited up for practice only to sit out.

The Pro Bowl cornerback stepped on the field Tuesday wearing his cleats and helmet, but didn’t participate in the session. His availability for the season opener Thursday night against the Baltimore remains uncertain because of a tender left foot.

Coach John Fox had no update on Bailey, only saying “our final injury report comes out (Wednesday). We’ll leave it at that.”

The ex-Georgia standout has been out since spraining his foot on Aug. 17 in a preseason game at Seattle.

STEELERS: Running back Isaac Redman, who spent most of the preseason on the bench as a precaution after tweaking his neck during practice, will be the starter for Sunday’s opener against Tennessee.

The Steelers cut former Georgia Tech star Jonathan Dwyer and handed the starting job to Redman while second-round pick Le’Veon Bell recovers from a sprained right foot.

SAINTS: Brought back receiver Robert Meachem after his release by the San Diego Chargers, then placed linebacker Jonathan Vilma on injured reserve, designated to return this season.

Vilma (knee) can’t practice for the first six weeks and can’t be activated for the first eight weeks.

TEXANS: Linebacker Brian Cushing signed a six-year contract extension worth more than $55 million.

COLTS: Waived safety John Boyett a day after he was arrested on public intoxication and other charges.
