Ray Guy is getting another chance.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame Seniors Committee announced Wednesday the former punter and former Atlanta Falcons defensive end Claude Humphrey as their two finalists for the Class of 2014. Guy and Humphrey will join 15 modern-era candidates on the ballot of finalists the Hall of Fame selection committee will vote for on Feb. 1.

Guy, a seven-time Pro Bowl selection and member of the NFL’s 75th Anniversary team, must receive 80 percent of the vote required of all finalists for enshrinement. The selection committee can elect both senior committee nominees and up to five modern-era candidates – at least four players have to be chosen.

Guy is a seven-time finalist for the Hall of Fame, the last time being in 2008. Humphrey has been a finalist four times, his previous time in 2009 as a senior candidate.

not being in the national football Hall Of Fame makes as much sense as professional basketball being a white mans game.

This should be the one

The Seniors Committee has a great track record of pushing players through. This is Guy's best chance to get the recognition he justly deserves.

What

does it take to make this happen? What a slap in the face of Guy and fellow Georgians that he was not inducted long before this. Are the Northerners still fighting the Civil War? Some of you more enlightened types clue me in.

Nothing to do with the north.

Nothing to do with the north. For some odd reason they have an anti-punter bias and never consider it an important enough part of the game. Rather dumb if you ask me. Many a game has been won or lost on mishandled punts and field position from a punt. Add in that they pretty much invented the term "hang time" because of Ray and it all boils down to it's a disgrace that he wasn't inducted years ago.
