The Boston Herald is reporting that the New England Patriots have released defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth.

The move came Tuesday, two days after Haynesworth did not play for most of the second half of Sunday’s 24-20 loss to the New York Giants.

New England obtained Haynesworth for a fifth-round draft choice July 28 after he spent two seasons with Washington on a seven-year, $100 million contract.

He constantly feuded last season with Redskins coach Mike Shanahan and was suspended for the last four games for conduct detrimental to the club.

With the Patriots, Haynesworth had six tackles in six games, missing two games with a back injury. He had no tackles against the Giants.

SCHEDULING: With Indianapolis winless and Peyton Manning-less, the NFL has already decided to move the Dec. 4 game against New England off Sunday Night Football under its flexible scheduling policy.

The league will decide on a replacement by Nov. 22. The NFL said Tuesday that the game at New England would now be at 1 p.m. on CBS.

The critical NFC East matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants on Nov. 20 will remain on Sunday night on NBC. The Titans-Falcons game that day will move from 1 p.m. to 4:15 on CBS.

BEARS: Veteran center Roberto Garza agreed on a two-year contract extension through 2013.

Primarily a guard in his first 10 seasons, Garza, a former Atlanta Falcon, replaced Olin Kreutz.

BILLS: Kicker Dave Rayner agreed to a contract to fill in for injured veteran Rian Lindell, who is out indefinitely after hurting his right shoulder last weekend.

REDSKINS: Washington signed receiver David Anderson, defensive end Kentwan Balmer and defensive back Domonique Johnson.

The Redskins on Tuesday also waived receiver Donte’ Stallworth, tight end Dominique Byrd, defensive end Darrion Scott and cornerback Brandyn Thompson.
