Favre not worried about banged-up body

Brett Favre was badly beat up in Minnesota's overtime loss at New Orleans last January, a well-documented part of that epic NFC championship game.

The grandfather of NFL quarterbacks, however, doesn't sound worried about his health as it relates to returning for a 20th season.

"Playing another year probably isn't going to make a difference. The damage has already been done," Favre told Men's Journal for the issue that will go on sale on Friday.

Favre also explained his thought process on the fateful fourth-quarter interception against the Saints in that game, an on-the-run pass to Sidney Rice that was forced into tight coverage. Favre said they connected on the same play the week before against the Dallas Cowboys, when the former South Carolina player came back toward him.

"As a player you've got to pull the trigger," Favre said. "You can't say, 'Well, is he going to do what I think he's going to do?' "

The Vikings are still waiting to learn whether Favre will come back, with training camp a little more than two weeks away. His agent, Bus Cook , told The AP in an e-mail on Wednesday he had no update on Favre's status.

TITANS: Tennessee has agreed to terms on a contract with rookie linebacker Rennie Curran, of Georgia.

The former Bulldog was the team's second pick in the third round at 97th overall and is the sixth of Tennessee's nine draft picks under contract.

He was a first-team All-Southeastern Conference linebacker with 298 career tackles in 37 games over three seasons.

PACKERS: Cornerback Charles Woodson says he was lucky to escape a burning house in Bay Harbor, Mich., over the weekend.

Woodson said he was at Gwen Haggerty 's house Friday night. It was part of a celebration honoring the Ted and Jane Von Voigtlander Foundation for donating $15 million to name the new women's hospital at the University of Michigan.

The former Wolverine says he and other overnight guests were still awake when the fire started sometime after 4 a.m. Saturday and everyone was able to get out of the house without being hurt.
