McDuffie County school board doesn’t take action on personnel matter

THOMSON — The McDuffie County Board of Education met Wednesday for a lengthy called meeting regarding a personnel issue.

Dr. Mychelle Rhodes, school superintendent, said last week that the board was dealing with an issue surrounding a Thomson High School coach but did not release a name.

After several hours in executive session, the board came out of the closed-door session and announced that it did not come to a decision regarding the personnel matter. Many people had gathered at the meeting hoping for a chance to speak, but public input was not allowed.

Public input will be allowed at the board’s regular meeting set for May 11 at 6 p.m.
