Gasol, Bryant expected to return Friday for Lakers

Los Angeles Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni referred to Pau Gasol recently as “the final piece.”

Despite some ongoing pain in his right foot, Gasol now seems likely to be on the floor tonight for the Lakers against Washington. Kobe Bryant is also expected back from his left ankle sprain.

Gasol and Bryant both went through an intense practice Thursday and experienced no problems.

BULLS: Superstar Derrick Rose still isn’t sure when he’ll come back from his knee injury.

Rose said Thursday he hasn’t experienced any setbacks in his recovery. But he said that he’s still experiencing some soreness in his surgically repaired left knee and hasn’t set a target date for his return.

TRAIL BLAZERS 99, BULLS 89

In Chicago, LaMarcus Aldridge scored 28 points, Damian Lillard added 24 and Portland completed a season sweep of the Bulls.

The Trail Blazers took the season series with the Bulls for the first time since the 2008-09 season.

Joakim Noah had 18 points and Carlos Boozer added 16 points and 11 rebounds for Chicago.
