The Evans-based online tax preparation service TaxSlayer.com will remain in the racing business.

On Tuesday, JR Motorsports announced that TaxSlayer.com, which has been associated with the Dale Earnhardt-owned race team since 2011, had signed a long-term sponsorship agreement.

Starting with the 2013 season-opener at Daytona, TaxSlayer.com will receive primary paint schemes in 17 Nationwide Series races with Earnhardt Jr. at the wheel.

Racing won’t be the only way Earnhardt promotes the tax service. He’ll be the spokesman in nationallly-televised commercials and make an appearance at the TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl on Jan. 1.

“Extending our NASCAR sponsorship with JR Motorsports was a key factor in our marketing strategy,” said TaxSlayer founder and ownder Jimmy Rhodes in a press release. “Through our association with Dale Jr., we’ve been able to grow our business and introduce new customers to our service. Extending this relationship with JR Motorsports and committing to its future just makes sense for us.”

Earnhardt was happy the companies would continue to work together.

“Our relationship with TaxSlayer is very important to me personally,” he was quoted as saying in the press release. “I thank Jimmy Rhodes, Carl Rhodes and Zane Christopher for trusting in my company to help grow theirs. In a short time we’ve been able to do really good things, and I look forward to working with them for years to come. It’s just as important to me to build their customer base as it is for us to win races.”
