Roush is satisfied with only probation

Team owner Jack Roush said Wednesday he's satisfied with the penalty NASCAR levied against driver Carl Edwards for his intentional accident with Brad Keselowski.

Edwards was involved in an early accident with Keselowski in Sunday's race at Atlanta, and later returned to the track and deliberately wrecked Keselowski. The contact sent Keselowki's car airborne, and NASCAR parked Edwards for the remainder of the race.

On Tuesday, Edwards was placed on probation for three races.

"We are satisfied that NASCAR fairly considered all the circumstances in its decision to discipline Carl," said Roush.

Roush said he looked forward to a NASCAR-called meeting next weekend at Bristol between the two drivers and Keselowski car owner Roger Penske.

"It is our hope to put this behind us at that time," said Roush.

EARLY BYE WEEK: All three of NASCAR's national touring divisions are taking this weekend off. While most appreciate the opportunity to get some rest, they know the schedule is about to get busy as the Sprint Cup Series gets ready to bring back the rear spoiler.

"We have a lot of testing coming up at Talladega and we have two test days at Charlotte, so they will be getting prepared for those days, and I think the spoiler is the first thing on everybody's mind," Kevin Harvick said.

Matt Kenseth said he'd rather move the bye week to the summer when teams need more time to replenish their racing fleets.

"A lot of times you look forward to a weekend off," he said. "If you could arrange the schedule the way you want, you would probably put it more in the summer. I am looking forward to it. It has only been four weeks but we can catch our breath and get back to the shop and look at what we have done well and what we need to improve on."

HELPING HAND: Michael Waltrip will enter the Sprint Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway with help from a longtime sponsor.

Aaron's Inc. will sponsor the No. 55 for Waltrip to enter in the April race.

WHAT A DRAG: Kurt Busch will celebrate Sunday's victory at Atlanta Motor Speedway by driving a 1970 Dodge Challenger in the Super Gas division at the Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals.

Busch graduated from Roy Hills Drag Racing School. He will join as many as 90 other Super Gas competitors at the legendary Gainesville (Fla.) Raceway. He's scheduled to make three runs today before trying to qualify on Friday.
