In Knoxville, Tenn., the Augusta RiverHawks started their longest road trip of the SPHL season with a 7-2 loss to the Knoxville Ice Bears on Friday night.

The RiverHawks will play five more road games before returning home Feb. 2, including three in a row starting with Friday night’s game.

The teams played a wild first period, with six goals scored, two by Augusta (Taylor McReynolds and Matt Auffrey), which would be the only goals the RiverHawks would get.

After a scoreless second period, the Ice Bears scored three more times in the final period.

Robert Moss started in goal for Augusta, but was pulled in favor of Austin Lee after the first period. Lee gave up the three third-period goals, stopping 18 of 21 stops in his two periods of action.

The last-place River Hawks drop to 9-20-3; Knoxville is 17-10-3.
