On the eve of their first-round playoff match up, three Augusta RiverHawks have received league-wide recognition.

The Southern Professional Hockey League released its All-SPHL first- and second-team awards this morning with Augusta well represented. Forward Jim Gehring and defenseman Ed Snetsinger landed spots on the first team, while RiverHawks captain Matt Auffrey earned one of three forward spots on the second team.

Gehring finished second in the league in goals scored (41) and tied for fourth in points (65). Snetsinger tied the league lead with a plus-36 plus/minus rating and finished second among the league’s defensemen with 48 points.

Auffrey, who was named league MVP in last year’s voting, finished the season with 22 goals and 41 assists.

All three skaters are in their second season with Augusta.

The No. 1 RiverHawks will play host to the No. 8 Huntsville Havoc Wednesday night in Game 1 of a best-of-three first-round playoff series.
