Augusta RiverHawks team captain Matt Auffrey has been named the Southern Professional Hockey League's player of the month for February, according to a statement released by the league office this morning.

Auffrey, the only player to have skated for both the Augusta Lynx and RiverHawks, leads the SPHL with a plus-minus rating of plus-20. He tallied seven goals and eight assists in 10 games last month.

Augusta began the month in fourth place in the eight-team league, but Auffrey led the first-year expansion team to a 7-3 mark in February.  The RiverHawks now sit in sole possession of second place, just six points out of first and could clinch a playoff spot with a win Tuesday night in Fayetteville.
