BOSTON — Alexander Semin had a goal and set up Jay Beagle’s go-ahead score Saturday, lifting the Washington Capitals to a 4-3 win over the Boston Bruins.

It was the second consecutive win for the Capitals after a three-game losing streak (0-2-1).

Washington moved two points ahead of Winnipeg and is now in sole possession of eighth place in the Eastern Conference. Washington also trails Florida by one point in the Southeast Division.

In Denver, Milan Hejduk and Peter Mueller scored in the shootout and Semyon Varlamov stopped both shots he faced to lead Colorado.

HURRICANES 4, LIGHTNING 2

In Tampa, Fla., Jeff Skinner scored two goals, Cam Ward made 36 saves in his 199th NHL win, and Carolina beat Tampa Bay.

DEVILS 2, ISLANDERS 1

In Uniondale, N.Y., Marek Zidlicky and David Clarkson scored 14 seconds apart in the final two minutes of the third period to rally New Jersey past New York.

FLYERS 1, MAPLE LEAFS 0

In Toronto, Ilya Bryzgalov made 29 saves for his third shutout in the past four games and Claude Giroux scored the only goal in the shootout and Philadelphia earned a win over Toronto.

STARS 2, DUCKS 0

In Dallas, Brenden Morrow scored a power-play goal in his return from an 18-game injury absence, Kari Lehtonen made 21 saves for his 20th career shutout, and Dallas stretched its winning streak to five games.

SABRES 4, SENATORS 3 (SO)

In Ottawa, Tyler Ennis scored in regulation and then added the winning goal in the shootout to give Buffalo a win over Ottawa.

COYOTES 3, SHARKS 0

In Glendale, Ariz., Mike Smith stopped 42 shots and Mikkel Boedker and Michael Stone scored second-period goals to lead Phoenix.
