Devils beat Rangers in shootout

NEWARK, N.J. — David Clarkson scored the tying goal for New Jersey in the final minute of regulation, and Ilya Kovalchuk had the only goal in the shootout as the Devils snapped a three-game losing streak with a 4-3 victory over the New York Rangers on Tuesday night.

In Boston, Dennis Seidenberg scored the tiebreaking goal from center ice in the third, lifting Boston.

LIGHTNING 4, CAPITALS 3 (OT)

In Tampa, Fla., Steven Stamkos scored his NHL-leading 33rd goal at 2:45 of overtime, lifting Tampa Bay.

SABRES 3, CANADIENS 1

In Montreal, Paul Gaustad had a goal and two assists to lead Buffalo.

ISLANDERS 5, HURRICANES 2

In Raleigh, N.C., John Tavares scored two goals and had two assists to lead New York.

PENGUINS 5, MAPLE LEAFS 4 (SO)

In Pittsburgh, Evgeni Malkin tied it with 6 seconds left in regulation and then scored the lone shootout goal to lift Pittsburgh.

JETS 2, FLYERS 1 (SO)

In Philadelphia, Bryan Little had the only goal of the shootout, lifting Winnipeg.
