OTTAWA — Alex Ovechkin scored one of three consecutive goals by Washington in the third period to lead the Capitals to a 5-3 win over the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday night.

Troy Brouwer scored 15 seconds later to make it a 4-2. John Carlson, who had two assists, scored into an empty net at 19:14 for his third point.

FLYERS 5, SABRES 4 (OT)

In Bufflao, N.Y., Claude Giroux scored 2:27 into overtime for Philadelphia, which overcame a three-goal, first-period deficit and beat Buffalo.

The Flyers (16-7-3) scored four times on 10 shots bridging the first and second periods.

PENGUINS: Sidney Crosby will miss the next two games as a precaution after a collision with teammate Chris Kunitz in Monday night’s loss to Boston.
