Westminster drops Curtis Baptist

  • Follow Football

Play of the Game: Early in the second quarter, Westminster running back Nygl Eaddy took a hand-off at the Curtis Baptist 46-yard line and broke several tackles on his way to a touchdown.

Player of the Game: Eaddy played both sides of the ball and finished with 147 yards rushing and a touchdown. He also had two interceptions.

Why Westminster won: The Wildcats used their rushing attack to eat up chunks of yards and time during the second and third quarters. The defense stayed on the sidelines much of the game, and after a Curtis Baptist touchdown on their first drive, Westminster kept the Crusaders from crossing midfield until the fourth.

Why Curtis Baptist lost: The Crusaders came out hot and scored early. However, they were never able to sustain another drive until under a minute left in the game.

Quotes: “We talk a lot about them. I call them my warriors. They go out and play hard all game,” Westminster head coach Steve Ackley on Eaddy and other players who play both offense and defense.
