In basketball, quickness to and around the rim is key, especially when trying to get by opponents as a forward or center.
On the football field as an offensive and defensive lineman, Johnson uses correct positioning to make blocking easier. But he said seeing someone else’s placement is also necessary.
“I look at their feet and how they’re set,” Johnson said. “Are they leaning forward or sitting back in their stance?”
This year, whether Johnson is on offense or defense, he should be a force.
He’s also used to seeing winning teams at North Augusta, teams that practice and play around Thanksgiving. An All-Region pick, Johnson wants to ensure that happens again this fall.
But the East Carolina commit won’t be working alone in his quest for another double-digit-win season. On offense, quarterback Trib Reece is back after passing for 3,083 yards.
“Trib is great,” Johnson said. “I think he’s one of the best quarterbacks in the state. Having him back there makes it pretty easy for us.”
