Evans picked up four awards from Region 3-AAAAAA as the football accolades and teams were released this week.
Knights junior quarterback Damekus Taylor was named region Offensive Player of the Year. Senior Corey Watkins was awarded Athlete of the Year.
Evans’ Max Tyler was named Kicker of the Year and head coach Lemuel Lackey was named Coach of the Year.
Taylor emerged as one of the area’s most productive players in his first year at Evans, passing for 1,441 yards, rushing for 1,455 yards and totaling 44 touchdowns. He guided the Knights to their first region title since 2008 and first playoff win in a decade.
Watkins rushed for 1,434 yards and 19 touchdowns, and he totaled more than 2,100 all-purpose yards as a dynamic kick and punt returner. He also added two interceptions on defense.
Tyler notched eight field goals with a long of 49 yards while adding 64 extra points. He also averaged 38.3 yards per punt and recorded 64 touchbacks on kickoffs.
