North Augusta secured a perfect regular season Friday night and now turns its attention to the playoffs.
The fourth-ranked Yellow Jackets beat Aiken 51-21 to wrap up an undefeated regular season at 10-0, including 4-0 in Region 4-AAAA.
North Augusta reached the double-digit win mark for the sixth time since 2009.
North Augusta will now get ready for Westwood in the first round of the Class AAAA playoffs Nov. 3. The Yellow Jackets will play host to the Redhawks, the No. 4 seed from Region 3 who went 6-5 in the regular season.
South Aiken routed Midland Valley 62-21 on Friday night to wrap up the No. 2 seed from Region 4. The Thoroughbreds earn a home playoff game in the first round against Ridge View, the No. 3 seed that finished the regular season at 7-3.
Midland Valley will be on the road in the first round against South Pointe, the defending state champion and No. 1 team in South Carolina.
HERITAGE 42, AUGUSTA PREP 24
Augusta Prep’s hopeful season came to an abrupt end Friday night in Newnan, Ga.
The Cavaliers fell to Heritage in the first round of the GISA Class AAA playoffs. It marked their second consecutive first-round exit.
A senior-laden Augusta Prep team entered the season with high expectations and started 4-0, but two region losses put the Cavaliers on the road to start the postseason, and injuries crippled the roster down the stretch.
RICHMOND ACADEMY 24, CROSS CREEK 12
Richmond Academy wrapped up a playoff spot by handling Cross Creek on Friday night.
The Musketeers moved to 2-2 in Region 3-AAAA to claim a playoff seed with one regular season game left.
They own a potential tiebreaker over Hephzibah after a key 17-0 victory over the Rebels a couple weeks ago.
A postseason game would be Richmond Academy’s first since 2010.
