Evans rolls over Lakeside for fifth consecutive victory

Evans won its fifth consecutive game Friday night, blasting Columbia County rival Lakeside 42-0.

 

The Knights improved to 7-2 overall and 4-0 in Region 3-AAAAAA. Evans can clinch the region title with a win at home next week against Heritage.

Quarterback Damekus Taylor spearheaded the Evans attack, running for one touchdown and throwing a touchdown pass to Connor Warren as the Knights built a 17-0 lead at halftime.

Evans kicker Max Tyler added two field goals, and Taylor iced the game with a 96-yard scoring run in the second half. He later added a touchdown pass to Dedrrick Holmes.

Lakeside fell to 2-7 and 2-2 in the region.

NORTH AUGUSTA 51, AIKEN 21

In Aiken, North Augusta capped an undefeated regular season with a big victory at Hagood Stadium.

The Yellow Jackets, ranked No. 4 in Class AAAA, improved to 10-0 and 4-0 in region 4-AAAA.

Landon Washington connected with DeJuan Bell for four touchdowns covering 19, 4, 15 and 40 yards.

Derius Gibson and Deandre McKinnis added scoring runs, and Parker Baxley kicked a short field goal to complete the Yellow Jackets’ scoring.

Aiken, winless on the season, burned North Augusta for long scoring plays in each half.

BARNWELL 42, SILVER BLUFF 16

In Barnwell, the Warhorses wasted no time in jumping on Silver Bluff in a meeting of Class AA rivals.

Dallyon Creech returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, and Brandon Harvey added a pair of scores as No. 5 Barnwell rolled to a 35-0 lead at the half.

Barnwell improved to 9-1 and 4-1 in Region 5-AA. Silver Bluff, which got a touchdown run and pass from Jamaal Washington, fell to 5-5 and 2-3.
