Corey Watkins

SCHOOL: Evans

CLASS: Senior

POS.: RB/Athlete

HT./WT.: 5-8/182 pounds

HIGHLIGHTS: Watkins rushed 20 times for 183 yards and three touchdowns in a 43-10 victory over Alcovy this past Friday to open region play on a positive note for Evans. The senior do-everything athlete has rushed for more than 100 yards in four of six games and has surpassed 200 all-purpose yards in three contests as the Knights sit 4-2 ahead of a crucial region showdown at Grovetown.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING: “I think the biggest thing is, just the little things we ask him to do, they’re starting to show a little bit. His run game has picked up a little bit. Not just being a power guy, but being a guy that’s elusive out in space. That’s what we ask him to do. Friday night he showed that.” — Evans coach Lemuel Lackey

WHAT HE SAID: “It was homecoming so there were a bunch of activities at school, but at the same time it’s always biggest on Friday. We just try to stay focused and keep our offensive line right and everybody do their job and show up as a team. We’re doing real well.”
