SCHSL announces realignments

The South Carolina High School League announced its realignment for the 2018-20 seasons, highlighted by a couple of area region changes.

Silver Bluff and Fox Creek are most affected among area schools. The Bulldogs and Predators will move to Region 2-AA alongside Abbeville, Batesburg-Leesville, Dixie, Ninety Six and Saluda.

Region 5-AAAA, which includes the largest Aiken County schools, will add Brookland-Cayce to the group. The competition will be South Aiken, Aiken, Midland Valley, North Augusta and Airport.

Barnwell will compete in Region 5-AA alongside Allendale-Fairfax, Bamberg-Ehrhardt, Whale Branch and Woodland. Strom Thurmond will play Edisto, Gilbert, Pelion and Swansea in Region 5-AAA.
