Swainsboro hires Roberts as head football coach

Swainsboro announced Thursday the hiring of Scott Roberts as head football coach.

Roberts returns to the Tigers after leading the program in 2008-09. After going 5-5 in his first year, he coached Swainsboro to a 10-2 mark and trip to the second round of the playoffs in 2009. The Tigers went 10-1 in 2010 but haven’t posted a winning season since.

After a seven-year gap, Roberts will return as the fourth Swainsboro coach over that span. He replaces Mark Stroud, who returned to Calvary Day after a one-season stint with the Tigers.
