With area high school basketball teams trying to make up lost region tournament games and regular-season games, state playoffs starting dates have been moved.

The Georgia High School Association revised its state tournament schedule. With region tournaments allowed to conclude as late as Wednesday, the Class AA through Class AAAAAA state tournaments won’t begin
until Friday for the girls and Feb. 22 for the boys.

However, teams that are serving as hosts for both boys and girls games can schedule a doubleheader on either day.

Class A starts its playoffs on Feb. 24 for the girls and Feb. 25 for the boys. The other five classifications hold their second-round games those days as well.

The South Carolina High School League pushed the final day of the regular season to Wednesday.

The first round of the state playoffs for both boys and girls is Thursday with the second round two days later on Saturday.
