Aquinas, Lincoln County football teams learn playoff seeding, opponent

The best regular season in program history has given the Aquinas football team the No. 3 seed for the state playoffs.

On Wednesday, the 10-0 Irish learned they received the third seed and will play host to 14 seed Savannah Christian in the first round of the Class A private state playoffs, which start Nov 22.

In the public playoffs, which also begin Nov. 22, Lincoln County picked up the No. 7 seed and will play at home against No. 10 Dooly County in the first round. The two teams met in the state semifinals a year ago, when Dooly County picked up a 10-7 road win.

Both the public and private playoffs have 16-team fields.
