STAR OF THE GAME: North Augusta junior quarterback Trib Reece threw for 142 yards and three touchdowns. For the season, Reece has thrown 25 touchdowns.
WHY NORTH AUGUSTA WON: The Yellow Jackets entered Friday’s contest averaging 40.13 points per game and showed no signs of slowing down against their Region 5-AAAA foe. North Augusta’s offense accounted for 355 total yards and 18 first downs.
WHY SOUTH AIKEN LOST: It struggled to contain North Augusta’s offense, which scored on four of its six possessions in the first half.
QUOTABLE: “We played so poorly our last home game, and I coached so poorly, so it felt great to bounce back like this against a quality opponent,” North Augusta coach Dan Pippin said. “Overall, I thought we did a great job of controlling the line of scrimmage, especially on the defensive side of the ball.”
