RJ Stallings didn’t score every time he touched the ball last Friday, but he made the end zone a frequent final stop.
The Silver Bluff senior scored three first-quarter touchdowns in less than three minutes of action, doing so in three different ways in the Bulldogs’ 36-20 win against South Aiken.
After a 51-yard run with 9:16 to go in the quarter, Stallings had a receiving touchdown at 7:42 and then returned an interception for a TD with 6:39 remaining, helping him earn The Augusta Chronicle’s Player of the Week.
“I was watching film, and I was supposed to have the flat; I ran with the wrong guy,” Stallings said about his interception, adding he went with a receiver. “I saw the ball, and when the ball is in the air, we’re supposed to catch it.”
Stallings scored his final touchdown with 9:05 still to go in the first half, when he reached the end zone on a nine-yard run. He finished with 125 yards on 13 carries.
“We had a lot of great blocking,” Stallings said. “I got into the open field and I knew no one could catch me.”
