PLAY OF THE GAME: Already up 15-0, Richmond Academy struck through the air in the second quarter. Britto Tutt beat his defender and caught a perfectly lofted pass from Tony Daggett before streaking down the sideline for a 45-yard touchdown.
STAR OF THE GAME: Senior Travis Beatty carried 10 times for 102 yards and three touchdowns.
WHY RICHMOND ACADEMY WON: A swarming defense never allowed Josey’s offense to get going. The Musketeers had nine tackles for loss during a first half in which they held the Eagles to -9 yards.
WHY JOSEY LOST: Though the Eagles made some strides in the passing game after halftime, the Eagles had only three first downs on the night.
NOTE: Before the game, Richmond Academy honored Freddie Hudson III, who died Sept. 5. During a 1988 game against Westside, Hudson was paralyzed while playing for the Musketeers. Hudson’s family and former teammates were on hand Friday night. The Musketeers will wear a sticker honoring Hudson for the remainder of the season.
NEXT: Richmond Academy at Glenn Hills, Friday; Josey vs. Aquinas, Friday.
