PLAY OF THE GAME: Laney linebacker Brian Cook scored the go-ahead touchdown when he recovered a blocked punt in the end zone with 2:59 remaining in the first quarter.

STAR OF THE GAME: Laney running back Javin Myers. Myers, a freshman, torched Glenn Hills’ defense for a game-high 145 yards and a touchdown.

WHY LANEY WON: Laney put the game out of reach with 27 points in a 5:19 span in the third quarter. Andre JamesDanye WashingtonMarquis Miller and Tre’Von Samuels scored the third-quarter TDs.

WHY GLENN HILLS LOST: In the third quarter, Glenn Hills’ offense had a pair of turnovers and was held to only one first down.

QUOTABLE: “Coming off a loss last week, we knew this was an important game for us,” Laney coach Lemuel Lackey said. “I told the guys we needed to play our brand of football and that’s exactly what we did in the second half.”
