There could be classification changes for two local South Carolina High School League programs.

Though appeals still have to be heard in September, the SCHSL has finished the realignment proposal that would take effect for 2014-2016. In the plan, Aiken drops down from Class AAAA to Class AAA into a region with Midland Valley, and Strom Thurmond goes from Class AAA to Class AA.

The SCHSL’s executive committee will hear reclassification/realignment appeals in September. Appeals must include an alternative proposal.

In Class AAAA, the highest classification, North Augusta and South Aiken would remain region mates in Region 5-AAAA.

In Class AA, Strom Thurmond and Silver Bluff will still be in different regions even after Strom Thurmond’s potential move, with the Rebels in Region 2-AA and the Bulldogs in Region 5-AA.

In Class A, Fox Creek will be in Region 1-A, which includes McCormick and Ridge Spring-Monetta (football only).
