Sending out highlight videos, produced by her mother Stacie Adkins and aunt Elizabeth Anderson, Edmonds got a bigger bite than she anticipated from Francis Marion University, which competes in NCAA Division I in women’s soccer. Making it official, Edmonds signed her letter of intent to play for the Patriots on Thursday.

“I went there and I loved it,” said Edmonds, adding that the Patriots being Division I in soccer was a plus. “The campus was small so I feel like I’ll know people when I go. The soccer stadium was really nice. It’s a year old so it’s all brand new, up-to-date.”

Edmonds was a 2012 All-Region 2-AAAAA first teamer scoring 25 goals. She then scored 17 goals this season despite missing three games with a concussion as the Lady Knights went 6-9.

Evans coach Kevin Musick appreciated what Edmonds has meant to the program and had faith in her ability to succeed at the collegiate level.

“She has been that true leader for us the past four years,” Musick said. “We’re very proud of her. She’s got a great personality and attitude and it’s going to take her far.”
