Glenn Hills bounced by Westside (Macon)

MACON, Ga. — Westside (Macon) made 22 of 26 free throws in the final quarter to hold off Glenn Hills 64-60 on Wednesday night in the first round of the GHSA Class AAAA playoffs.

The Seminoles (22-6) finished the night 27 of 34 from the line.

Aubrey McRae led Glenn Hills (24-4) with 17 points.

JENKINS 71, EVANS 61

In Savannah, Ga., Brendan Carter scored a game-high 26 points, including 8 of 8 free throws in the final four minutes, and Jenkins (21-8) beat Evans (23-6) in the first round of the Class AAAAA playoffs.

Jenkins has won 13 of its past 14 games.

Damian Foreman led Evans with 21 points.

THOMSON 60,

PEACH COUNTY 59

In Thomson, Sherrod Hart scored on a putback in the final seconds to give the Bulldogs (19-6) a victory in the first round of the Class AAA playoffs.

Hart led the Bulldogs with 18 points. Stevon Hart added 13 and Jamontae Beard had 10.

VIDALIA 84, HARLEM 63

In Vidalia, Ga., Jordan Black scored 16 points to lead Vidalia (27-1) past Harlem (15-15) in the first round of the Class AA playoffs.

Harlem’s Reggie Reid led all scorers with 26 points.

ORANGEBURG PREP 57

In Sumter, S.C., Jacob Greenway scored 13 points to lead Augusta Christian
(20-5) to victory in the quarterfinals of the SCISA Class AAA playoffs.

SILVER BLUFF 61,

WADE HAMPTON 50

In Petticoat Junction, Donte Wright scored 24 points and Jaylen Lawrence added 17 to lead Silver Bluff (14-10) to victory in the quarterfinals of the South Carolina Class AA playoffs.

CURTIS BAPTIST GIRLS 37,

HIGHLAND CHRISTIAN 33

In Tifton, Ga., Kaitlin Swanson scored 13 points, and Curtis Baptist (14-16) overcame a 13-point halftime deficit to advance in the GISA Class A playoffs.

IRISH AT HOME

The Aquinas boys basketball team is the No. 3 team for the Class A private state playoffs.

In the Class A state playoff brackets that were released Wednesday, Region 7-A champion Aquinas will play host to Lakeview Academy in the first round. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday.
