Early County downs Screven County in Class AA playoffs

In Sylvania, Ga., Early County jumped on Screven County early and went to victory in the second round of the Class AA playoffs.

Early County led 21-0 at halftime, scoring 14 points in the first quarter and 7 in the second.

Jacori Taylor had 137 yards rushing and scored on an 8-yard run to lead the winners (9-3).

Screven County avoided the shutout when Aikeem Mingle hit Rashad Hughley on a 28-yard scoring pass with 37 seconds left in the game.

Jeremy Johnson rushed for 102 yards and Mingle added 71 for the Gamecocks, who finish 10-2.
