The points keep piling up in bunches at North Augusta.
Players come and go, from Loranzo Hammonds to Vinny Miller, but the Yellow Jackets’ offense is potent again this season, and running back DeVonte Pressley is a major reason.
North Augusta has put up at least 34 points in six consecutive games, and Pressley has been a constant threat.
That includes his monstrous performance against South Aiken a week ago, as he rushed for 276 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-14 rout. Because of his big game, Pressley is The Augusta Chronicle’s Player of the Week.
Listed at 5-foot-9 but actually standing a few inches shorter, Pressley uses his great speed and his ability to get lost among the lineman to break into the open field.
“I love having my size and having them much bigger than me,” Pressley said about his offensive line with a smile.
Against South Aiken, Pressley needed only 22 carries to reach his total as North Augusta led 28-0 at the half and got its fourth win in a row.
“I knew the offense had potential,” Pressley said. “We started off slow but we worked in practice. I knew it would be good.”
