After the 20-13 win at Aquinas – the Red Devils’ 32nd consecutive victory in the series – Lincoln County went up two spots to No. 3, which was the spot Aquinas had held, in the newest Associated Press Georgia high school football poll for Class A. The Irish dropped to No. 6 after their first lost of the season.
In the other classes, all the ranked area schools remained in the same spots. In Class AAA, Thomson and Washington County, both undefeated, stayed at Nos. 2 and 3, though the teams’ meeting Oct. 26 will lead to a shake-up.
Up a class in AAAA, Burke County holds at No. 3 after a 31-point win at Richmond Academy. The Bears have won their past six games.
Finally, in Class AA, Washington-Wilkes and Screven County are in the receiving votes section. The Tigers, once as high as No. 7 this season, rebounded from a loss to Jefferson by beating Greene County 48-0.
