North Augusta swimmer Nicole Fuller is the Fall Sports Player of the Week

SCHOOL: North Augusta CLASS: Junior HEIGHT: 5-5

HIGHLIGHTS: Fuller won two individual state championship events at the South Carolina High School League Class AAAA meet Oct. 6. She set the state record in the girls 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:56:43, more than three seconds better than the previous record. It was her second career state title in the event. Fuller also won the 200-yard freestyle at 1:51:70.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING: “She did an outstanding job. She knew she was in for a fast race, but she was in control the entire time. It was her race. It was amazing to watch.” – Coach Joy Collins

WHAT SHE SAID: “Everyone was going crazy. The coaches were on the verge of tears. My goal was to break the record, because I knew it was a big deal. I said, ‘Let’s blow it out of the water.’”
