The attack is still led by Donquell Green, but Antonio Harold, Malik Lee and Donqual Young have become big contributors.
In Friday’s 38-7 win at Richmond Academy, the trio had 188 rushing yards to complement Green’s 153 yards.
“That’s what we’re going for,” Bears coach Eric Parker said.
HELLO AGAIN: North Augusta scored an impressive 33-0 win over White Knoll on Friday night.
But for North Augusta coach Dan Pippin, his toughest game might be this coming Friday when the Yellow Jackets visit South Aiken.
Pippin coached at South Aiken before moving to North Augusta, and he helped turn the Thoroughbreds program around. Plus, one of his former assistants, Jeremy West, is now head coach of the Thoroughbreds.
“It’s always fun with Jeremy, who is probably my best friend,” Pippin said. “We have a lot of fun with it.”
Last year, North Augusta defeated South Aiken 28-20.
CONTROLLING ITS DESTINY: With its 32-3 win at Westside on Friday night, Laney improved to 1-1 in Region 3-AA. The Wildcats play host to region-leading East Laurens (3-0) on Friday night.
If Laney can win its final four games, the Wildcats can lock up a home playoff berth. But first the Wildcats have to get past the Falcons.
“Playing hard is one thing, winning is another thing,” Laney coach Lemuel Lackey said. “We’ve got to win next week. We’ve got to win out.”
