Burke County, the 2011 state football champion in Class AAA, is tied for No. 1 in Class AAAA in The Associated Press’ Georgia high school football preseason poll.

The Bears, whose class movement came with the Georgia High School Association adding a sixth class during reclassification, are tied with Sandy Creek with 92 points and five first-place votes.

In Class A, Lincoln County is No. 2 and Aquinas is No. 9. Though Class A will have separate playoffs for public and private schools, there is only one poll.

In Class AAA, Washington County is fifth and Jefferson County is tied for No. 9.
