South Aiken quarterback out for 4-6 weeks with injury

South Aiken quarterback Bo Baldwin broke his throwing hand in Friday night’s game and will be out four to six weeks, Thoroughbreds coach Jeremy West said Saturday morning.

The junior hurt his hand on the third play of the game as South Aiken lost to Richland Northeast 28-21 to begin its 2012 season. Will Holbrook will be the starter while Baldwin is out.

It’s the second injury setback for Baldwin in a little more than a year. Last season, he broke his collarbone.

Baldwin, who is 6-foot-5 and almost 230 pounds, has already received interest from a handful of Atlantic Coast Conference and Southeastern Conference schools.

“He was kind of bummed out about it,” West said. “But he’s going to keep his head up. It’s tough to deal with, but he’s a mature young man.”
