In Columbia, Ryan Howell accounted for three touchdowns, leading Richland Northeast to a season-opening 28-21 victory over South Aiken on Friday night.
Howell threw a 49-yard touchdown pass to Craishaud Foulks to open the scoring, the caught a pair of scores on throws from A.C. Whaley. Whaley threw three touchdowns passes.
DeAndre Schoultz had an 86-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter for South Aiken, which had 276 yards rushing in the game. Adam Allen had a 3-yard touchdown run and Will Holbrooks connected with Trent Williams on a 17-yard scoring pass in the second quarter to account for the other Thoroughbred scores.
