Weather cancels Aiken Jamboree

  • Follow High school

Tonight’s Aiken County Jamboree has been canceled because of weather concerns.

The annual event, which features 10 high school football teams, was scheduled to be held at South Aiken. It will not be rescheduled.

Thoroughbreds coach Jeremy West said it was canceled because of some recent bad weather and more rain and lightning expected tonight. West expressed concern about a situation where lightning would pop up and the construction going on would make it difficult to get all the people safely inside.

“We erred on caution and safety,” West said. “Most of us play Week 0, so we’re just going to go ahead and cancel it this year and hopefully pick it back up next year.”
