High school football teams in the Georgia High School Association can begin practicing Wednesday in preparation for the upcoming season.
As outlined by the GHSA’s State Executive Committee, for the first five days of practice for any player, each practice can last no longer than two hours. Also, players can’t wear more gear than shorts, a helmet, mouthpiece and shoes.
Starting Aug. 1, players can practice in full pads and twice a day. But a player can’t practice in full pads until he has completed those five conditioning practices.
The season begins Aug. 24 for some GHSA-member schools. Games that day include Cross Creek at Greenbrier and Thomson at Burke County.
