Georgia signee Atkins headed to prep school

  • Follow High school

Former Thomson High football standout John Atkins will enroll in Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia before he can do the same at the University of Georgia, Thomson coach Milan Turner has confirmed.

Though Atkins failed to qualify at Georgia for this fall, he could be done at Hargrave in December and in Athens in January.

The defensive lineman, who graduated from Thomson this year, committed to Georgia in September 2011 and then signed with the school on Feb. 1, which was National Signing Day.
