Hancock Central is put on notice

  • Follow High school

The Georgia High School Association has levied penalties against Hancock Central High School for the postgame football brawl with Warren County this past season, according to a news release.

Penalties include all Hancock Central sports teams getting placed on “Severe Warning Status” for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 school years. Any major sportsmanship violations during this time will lead to more severe penalties.

Hancock Central must also have a written security plan for all football and basketball games sent to the GHSA executive director by July 15. Hancock Central also is being fined for the incident.

The GHSA decision was appealed by Hancock Central’s administration but the GHSA Appeal Board denied the appeal.

It is interesting that the

It is interesting that the Hancock County grand jury "no billed" charges against the student/player who attacked and severely injured the Warren County coach, and there has been no report of the HCBOE disciplining anyone because of the attack.

This doesn't seem right. A

This doesn't seem right. A man is injured so severely in the face/head that he has to have reconstructive surgery and no more than the school is fined and told that anymore unsportsmanlike conduct will result in more severe punishment.

What's more severe? Next time they have to kill someone? This was more than just an after school brawl. This was aggravated assult in my opinion.

The Hancock County Board of

The Hancock County Board of Education needs to take action against those persons in leadership positions who failed in their responsibilities-namely---THE PRINCIPAL AT HANCOCK CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL, THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR, AND THE HEAD FOOTBALL COACH. Until such actions are taken, this unsportsmanlike, criminal behavior will likey repeat itself.
