Drew Costa added a 22-yard field goal for the Bishops (13-1), who won their first state title in football before 4,200 fans at Charles W. Johnson Stadium.
It was the seventh shutout of the season and the third of the playoffs for Bishop England, which limited Central’s potent option offense to only 169 yards and forced six turnovers.
The Bishops took a 7-0 lead on Croghan’s 22-yard touchdown pass to Griffie Loy with 1:30 left in the first quarter, capping an 80-yard, eight-play drive.
After the first of three interceptions by Andrew Bunch, the Bishops settled for Costa’s field goal with 2:01 left in the third quarter.
A fumble and two interceptions ended any hopes of a Central (12-2) comeback.
